| Description: |
Perennials, 13–27 cm tall, loosely caespitose to caespitose; rhizome ascending, branched; stolons absent. Basal leaves to 7 cm long, 2.5–3.5 mm wide. Cauline leaves usually 2, c. 2.5–7 cm long, to 2.5 mm wide; margins ciliate, densely papillose-serrulate; apex obtuse. Lower bract leaf-like, erect to erecto-patent, narrow, c. 1.5–3.5 cm long, exceeding inflorescence. Inflorescence congested, c. 1.0–1.5 × 0.7–1.0 cm, or of 1–3 subsessile and 1–3 pedunculate clusters; clusters 8–12-flowered, ovoid, c. 6 mm wide; peduncles ±straight, to 2.5 cm long, smooth. Bracteoles ovate, ciliate, scarious, c. 1.5 mm long. Tepals subequal, lanceolate, c. 2.7–3.3 mm long, ±acuminate, dark castaneous-brown to blackish brown; margins narrow, paler castaneous. Stamens 6; anthers 0.5–0.7 (–0.8) mm long; filaments 0.6–0.9 mm long; style 0.3–0.4 (–0.5) mm long; stigmas 1.2–1.9 mm long. Capsule obovoid, subobtuse, shorter than perianth, deep castaneous-brown; capsule segments 2.1–2.2 × c. 1.5 mm. Seeds narrowly ovoid, castaneous-brown, 1.0–1.1 × 0.7–0.8 mm; appendage 0.1–0.2 mm. |

| Notes: |
An imperfectly known species. According to the material available, its variation range is wider than that given in the protologue. In addition, rich samples collected by R. Businský show that a hybridization with another, probably unknown taxon of the sect. Luzula might be involved in the eastern part of the range. |
