| Description: |
Perennials, 15–30 cm tall, ±sparsely ciliate, with branched creeping rhizome and short ascending stolons. Basal leaves 6–9 cm long, 2.0–3.5 (–4.5) mm wide; cauline leaves usually 2, 3–4 cm long, 1.5–3.0 mm wide; all leaves with obtuse tip and sparsely papillose to smooth margins. Inflorescence composed of 1–3 subsessile and 2–6 pedunculate clusters; clusters hemispherical, (3–) 5–7(–9)-flowered, dark, c. 5 × 5 mm; peduncles straight to flexuose, ±smooth, usually 1.5–2.0 (–3.0) cm long. Lower bract herbaceous, conspicuously shorter than inflorescence, usually 1.0–1.5 cm long. Bracteoles ovate, scarious, 1.0–1.5 mm long, shorter than tepals, sparsely fimbriate-ciliate above. Tepals equal, entire, usually 2.3–2.7 mm long, acuminate, dark (blackish) brown, seldom with indistinct pale margins. Stamens
6; anthers 0.7–0.9 (–1.1) mm long; filaments 0.4–0.5 mm long; style 0.6–0.9 mm long; stigma 1.5–2.2 mm long. Capsule subacuminate, ±shorter than tepals, brown, shining; capsule segments c. 2.0–2.4 mm long, up to 1.5 mm wide. Seeds 0.9–1.0 mm long, 0.5–0.6 mm wide; appendage 0.2 mm long. |

| Notes: |
The species is closely allied to L. taurica, less closely so to L. stenophylla. From the former it can be distiguished by shorter tepals, creeping rhizome and narrower seeds, from the latter by its creeping rhizome, usually pedunculate flower clusters, and longer seed appendage. |
