Geography: Common in Japan, extending to Korea and China. A much wider distribution in China was reported by Wu Guofang & S.E.Clemants, in Wu Zhengyi & P.H.Raven, Fl. China 24 (2000), probably as a result of confusion with J. prismatocarpus subsp. leschenaultii.
