| Description: |
Perennial up to 60 cm tall, loosely caespitose, sparsely hairy; rhizome short, ascending, without stolons. Basal leaves up to 2024 cm long, usually 4.511 mm wide. Cauline leaves (2) 3, with upper one usually 69 cm long, 3.56.5 mm wide. All leaves with obtuse swollen tip and densely papillose-serrulate margin. Lower bract herbaceous, of variable length, usually 24 cm long, substantially shorter than inflorescence. Inflorescence sometimes not only terminal but also in axil of upper cauline leaf, of one subsessile and numerous (usually 530) clusters; clusters small, hemispherical, usually 27-flowered. Peduncles thin, c. 0.3 mm in diam., often arcuate or flexuose, smooth to densely papillose above, with secondary branches; secondary branches often 35 per branch (inflorescence branched in a way similar to that of sect. Anthelaea), with longest branches up to 10 cm. Bracteoles ovate, scarious to pale straw-brownish, c. 1.5 mm long, ciliate. Tepals (1.8) 2.22.4 mm long, ±equal, entire, pale brownish, acute to subobtuse with an acute mucro and broad membranous to straw-brown margins. Stamens 6; anthers 0.61.0 mm long; filaments 0.50.6 mm long; style 0.40.6 mm long; stigma 1.01.2 mm long. Capsule obovoid, submucronate, pale brownish, equalling or longer than perianth; capsule segments 2.02.2 Χ 1.31.4 mm. Seeds 0.80.9 mm long, 0.70.8 mm wide; appendage 0.10.2 mm long, fibrillate.
